Spyros Papadopoulos

Spyros has 22 years’ experience in the alternative investments industry. He began his career in private banking with Citi and Societ Generale and went on to launch an asset management company for Deloitte before joining the hedge fund, Absolute Return Partners. He launched the first peer -to-peer lending fund outside the US in 2012.

Jim de Groot

Head of Credit, Risk & Compliance

Jim has led the credit, risk and compliance functions of multi-billion dollar commodity trading businesses in Geneva, Singapore and London with some of the world’s largest trading companies. Jim has built extensive contacts in the banking and commodity trading sector across the globe. He has been active in the commodity business covering both banking and trading for over 40 years.

Sven de Zoeten

Head of Originations & Structuring

Sven has more than 30 years’ experience in commodity trade finance. He has been responsible for Origination and Structuring at Deutsche Bank since 2005 and has received many awards evidencing international recognition. Market participants describe him as “one of the most brilliant and passionate commodity finance experts” in the market.

David Faktor

Head of Operations

David Faktor is a highly experienced steel trading and logistics executive, with deep structured trade finance expertise. David was the Group MD at Stemcor Holdings, one of the world’s largest independent steel traders, having started his career with Coutinho Caro, a German-owned trader. Coutinho became Stemcor in 1988 and David joined its Main Board in 1995. David has very extensive international experience.

Tony Smith

Finance Director

Tony has worked in the commodities sector for more than 30 years. He is an ACCA qualified accountant with significant experience of financial control, international trade finance, treasury and risk management. He was formerly head of finance at an independent global steel trading company and in a number of ferrous, non-ferrous and specialty metals trading businesses.

Peter Mitchell

Peter has more than 43 years’ experience as a Trade and Commodity Finance banker. He is a Senior Adviser – Non- Ferrous Metals at the European Bank for
Reconstruction and Development. He trains bankers, lawyers, insurance brokers and traders in Trade and Commodity Finance for Moody’s Analytics and other major institutions.

Glen Unsworth

Glen has more than 25 years experience as a structured trade and commodity finance banker and has experience in the energy, metals and mining, agri and chemicals sectors. He has also been Industry Head for Natural Resources for a European bank and has worked in London, Moscow and Vienna.

Anika Oberbillig

Anika has experience in providing fiduciary services to structured finance securitisation vehicles. She specialised in banking and structured finance, covering the whole lifecycle of Luxembourg vehicles from incorporation over the administration of the daily business, accounting, monitoring and risk management as well as liquidations. She also serves as a director on the board of Luxembourg securitisation vehicles.

Constanze heads the Maples Group’s structured finance business in Luxembourg, having over 20 years experience in the financial sector. She serves as an independent director on a wide range of Luxembourg structured finance and holding companies.
